As our Internal Communications Channel Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring our colleagues receive clear, timely and engaging communications through the channels they rely on every day. A key part of this role is the ongoing management, optimisation and governance of our new intranet, ensuring it becomes the trusted home for news, resources and collaboration.

You’ll also oversee a suite of communication channels—from newsletters and email bulletins to digital screens and internal social platforms—making sure we reach all internal audiences in the ways that work best for them.

Main duties of the job

The Internal Communications Channels Manager Will Lead And Shape NHSBT’s Internal Communications Channels — Fostering Engagement, Transparency, And a Shared Sense Of Purpose Across Our Organisation

  • To ensure our communications are reaching frontline teams in all areas of the organisation and that we are adapting and targeting communications to best meet their needs.
  • Lead day to day management of the new intranet, including content governance, publishing standards, analytics reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with teams across the organisation to create and curate high quality content that supports our strategy and strengthens employee engagement.
  • Oversee the internal communications channel mix, ensuring each channel is used effectively and consistently.
  • Use analytics to monitor channel performance and shape improvements.
  • Support the delivery of major campaigns, announcements and leadership communications.
  • Keep up with best practice and trends in internal communications channel management and development and applying these as appropriate.

You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which could involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice

About You Experience and Knowledge
  • Demonstrable experience in an internal communications management role
  • Experience of developing and delivering internal communications programmes and campaigns using a wide range of channels and media.
  • Experience of shaping and delivering campaigns during periods of change.
  • Knowledge and experience of techniques and systems for evaluating the effectiveness of channels, campaigns and internal communications.
  • Understanding of and respect for donor/patient confidentiality.
  • Demonstrable track record of managing, motivating and developing teams.
  • Experience of budget planning and management.
  • Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint)
Qualifications And Training
  • Master level qualification or equivalent demonstrable relevant professional experience in marketing/comms related area
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
