Senior Design Manager

Full Time (45 hours per week)

Salary: £65,000 to £75,000 per year (pro-rata if part-time)

Plus car allowance £7000 per year

We are now looking to recruit a Senior Design Manager. This will be mainly based on construction sites in the Oxfordshire area as well as our head office in Kidlington.

What you’ll do

You will be responsible for managing design information flow between consultants, sub-contractors and site in accordance with the Design Release Programme, allowing project targets/deadlines to be met.

This will include:

  • Managing the production of design programmes.
  • Monitoring the design development, release, and approval process in line with the Design Programme.
  • Checking information received from design team to ensure elements of various disciplines are fully co‑ordinated.
  • Ensuring the design process recognises current legislation, standards, and Codes of Practice where appropriate.
  • Liaising with designers and sub-contractors, especially regarding interfaces between trades to eliminate clashes at these interfaces.
  • Monitoring and circulating the Request for Information Schedule to ensure design queries and clarifications are closed out in sufficient time to assist the design development process.
  • Monitoring and mitigating health and safety also construction risks during the design development process.
  • Contract administration including collation and distribution of design information when appropriate.
  • Attending site, design and sub-contractor meetings and preparing minutes where appropriate.
  • Monitoring design development progress against Design Programme.
  • Identifying and evaluating the impact of alternative design solutions and value engineering opportunities for review with the Project and Design Team before implementation.
  • Visiting sub-contractors’ production facilities to monitor and report on pre-site production.
  • Ensuring compliance with Company Q.A and management systems.
  • Performing appropriate additional tasks, as required.
What you’ll need
  • Prior experience in construction design management
  • Excellent IT skills including Auto CAD and BIM
  • Excellent people skills, able to build rapport and motivate others
  • High attention to detail
  • Superb organisation and communication skills
  • Ability to manage time and deliver to deadlines
