Job Purpose
The supervision of front line/operational/technical or professional staff to meet the required service standards, in line with the service plan and associated standards within the Childrens Families and cultural services (Social Care).
Key Responsibilities
Will deputise for the homes Registered Manager in their absence.Personally and through team members to deliver the targets set down in the service and team plans.To resolve any service delivery issues within available resources.To improve the performance of staff under his/her line management by maintaining communication with staff and providing the appropriate support and guidance.To improve customer satisfaction levels for his/her service.To act as a professional exemplar in carrying out the above duties with a can do attitude.To build positive relationships with other staff, parents, carers, colleagues and other agenciesTo inform the Registered Manager (or the Service Manager in the Registered Manager s absence) of any changes in the operational environment including customer satisfaction issues.To ensure that the home meets the requirements of The Childrens Home Regulations 2015 and the Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF)To provide managerial cover to other residential care homes for prescribed periods of time as necessary and requiredTo be a member of departmental panels as requiredTo manage and contribute to the Complaints and representations procedures/ There may be cases where, at the discretion of the Service manager, there is a requirement to investigate a complaint within another home setting.To ensure there is an on call system for managers and to participate as and when required.Key Accountabilities
Specified service targets within agreed resourcesEffective supervision of staff to secure high levels of performance.Alert the Registered Manager ((or the Service Manager in the Registered Managers absence) of issues that could affect performance.To represent the service within and outside the department, and to participate in management processes and other forums. This will include ensuring the Employee Performance review policy is followed, business implementation plans are produced, and information if provided to the departments transformation and development programmes as and when required.To immediately act on any issues of safeguardingTo ensure that staff and resources are deployed as efficiently and effectively as possible in line withidentified priorities, taking corrective action where appropriatePerson Specification
Education, Knowledge and skills Must have either : CSS, CQSW, DipSW. BA/SW, or NVQ Social Care Level 4 and NVQ Level 4 in management, or Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for H&SC and CYPS.
Evidence of continuous professional development.Knowledge and understanding of the main issues affecting the service area.Must have a sound knowledge of National Minimum Standards, Childrens Homes Regulations and other relevant legislation, policies and procedures.Evidence of a comprehensive understanding of child developmentHas a clear understanding and knowledge of safeguarding policies and proceduresHas a clear understanding of disabled children and how these impacts on their familiesUnderstands about person centred planning, and has the ability to assess the progress of young peoples plans and be able to devise intervention strategies to assist in the development of such plansKnowledge of the principles and practice of:Leadership and Management Skills
Can demonstrate the abilities to drive the team toward key outcomes, able to provide a positive example by working efficiently, thinking about and taking action to anticipate opportunities and deal with emerging issues.Able to empower staff to develop ideas for increasing efficiency.Managing the team to be ambitious but realistic in achieving the highest possible performance levels.Establishing open, honest, positive and transparent communication with staff, colleagues, parents and young people and other agencies.Ability to identify issues that could impact on service delivery and develop several options to mitigate these issues.Able to ensure that staff are deployed as efficiently and effectively as possible, in line with customers needs, changing priorities, national changes and performance levels.To be able to set targets in line with service plans and have the experience of devising, applying, and monitoring performance management strategies.Experience
