Director of Engineering

Director of Engineering, UK (London)

We are hiring on behalf of our client, an early‑stage risk and intelligence technology company, for a Director of Engineering. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for driving the next stage of technical and organisational growth, scaling the platform, and building a high‑performing engineering team.

You will take full ownership of the platform architecture, data pipelines, integrations, and multi‑tenant SaaS infrastructure. This is a highly visible, strategic role where you will work closely with the founder and early customers, ensuring the platform is scalable, secure, reliable, and enterprise‑ready.

• Own the full platform architecture, including ingestion, scoring, data stores, APIs, and dashboards.
• Lead AI/ML‑powered enrichment and scoring systems.
• Build and scale microservices, event‑driven pipelines, and automated intelligence workflows.
• Harden cloud infrastructure and implement security, compliance, and CI/CD best practices.
• Convert manual intelligence processes into automated, repeatable workflows.
• Build, mentor, and develop a small but highly capable engineering team.
• Collaborate with product and customer‑facing teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.

• 10+ years in software engineering, including senior or director‑level leadership experience.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms, microservices, distributed systems, and data engineering.
• Solid security and compliance knowledge; experience with SOC2, ISO
  27001, CE+, or similar standards is a plus.
• Experience building early‑stage or founding engineering teams.
• Comfortable balancing hands‑on engineering with strategic leadership.
• Experience in risk analytics, intelligence, or security data is advantageous.
