Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent member of staff to join our team as a Quality Risk and Safety Sister / Charge Nurse across the neonatal service. The role focuses on service improvement, patient safety, quality and leadership in clinical care delivery. You will work across the neonatal service as part of the senior nursing team providing 7‑day senior nurse cover while leading, guiding and supporting the implementation of clinical standards and quality initiatives in line with the Trust’s clinical risk management framework.
The role is part of the City and Queen’s Medical Centre Campuses. It offers a chance to work in an innovative, compassionate, family‑focussed neonatal service that serves the East Midland Neonatal Delivery Network.
Key Responsibilities- Be an effective leader and role model, providing regular direct clinical care and supporting the implementation of both clinical and non‑clinical governance to modernise patient services.
- As a clinical expert, promote safe and effective care to all categories of neonates.
- Provide guidance and support in the implementation of clinical standards and quality initiatives in line with the Trust’s clinical risk management framework.
- Facilitate the design, production and prioritisation of systems, plans and work programmes to ensure improved clinical quality within the clinical service unit, incorporating the Trust’s priorities and national agenda.
- Ensure that the Neonatal Service meets the National Standards of the Care Quality Commission and other relevant agencies, embedding these standards in practice.
- Work flexibly as a member of the ward team to ensure all staff understand the purpose, principles and methods of governance and risk management activities.
- Facilitate thorough investigations of incidents and serious incidents, ensuring recommendations and learning are implemented and shared across the neonatal service unit, the Family Health Division, wider Trust and Neonatal Network.
- Actively seek ways to involve and promote patient and public involvement in service design and delivery, incorporating feedback into reviews to improve services for the speciality.
