Medical Workforce Officer (Permanent)

We’re delighted to invite applications for a permanent Medical Workforce Officer to join our growing and forward-thinking Medical Workforce Team at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive team that plays a crucial role in ensuring our doctors are well supported, engaged and able to deliver outstanding patient care.
Roleand responsibilities
- Coordinate Resident Doctor rotations
- Manage and maintain on-call rotas, ensuring they are fully staffed and up to date
- Ensure compliance with the 2016 Resident Doctors Terms & Conditions of Service and Working Time Regulations
- Provide timely, accurate and reliable advice and support to doctors and managers
- Coordinate and oversee the smooth running of doctors’ rota in line with 2016 Resident Doctors Terms and Conditions of Service and working time legislation including coordination of all leave arrangements and prospective cover for Consultants, SAS, and Resident Doctors
- Monitor shift patterns to ensure continued compliance with relevant legislation
- Support on-boarding of Resident Doctors including pre-employment checks and induction processes
- Administer the Medical Staff Bank and support related processes
- Coordinate and monitor annual and other leave, sickness absence, and related records for Medical Staff
- Ensure adequate locum cover is arranged in a cost-effective way and liaise with temporary services and medical agencies as appropriate
- Maintain induction materials for Medical Staff in different formats and coordinate Resident Doctor Induction
- Ensure queries are dealt with promptly and directed to the appropriate team member
- Maintain data and systems (e.g., ESR, Allocate E-Rota) to support monthly timesheets and related processes
- Prepare and present information for meetings on on-call rotas and locum usage
- Maintain databases and support the Guardian of Safe Working/Medical Workforce Manager with reporting requirements
- Attend appropriate meetings to update on medical staffing issues
- Assist with day-to-day operational coordination of other Medical Workforce issues as requested
You’ll also work closely with colleagues on a range of initiatives, including:
- Supporting the Trust’s Resident Doctor Engagement Plan
- Helping to drive the digitalisation of Medical Workforce processes
- Contributing to continuous improvement across the service
- Experience with in a Medical Workforce, Medical Staffing or Medical Recruitment environment
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- A proactive, detail-focused approach
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of timely, efficient, and reliable data relating to Medical Workforce information in relation to doctors rotation, vacancies, recruitment, on-call rotas, and locum cover. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operational coordination of all rotas and rosters. The post holder will also be responsible for on-boarding Resident Doctors and supporting induction processes, and for administration of the Medical Staff Bank.
Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled Worker visa. Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. The salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.
