You will be working as a Mental Health Occupational Therapist within the GP surgeries in Nottingham West Primary Care Network. You will clinically manage patients who are experiencing mental health difficulties working autonomously to assess and develop appropriate management plans to support and improve their daily functioning. This will be including approximately 20 hours a year extended access sessions (Saturdays, morning / evenings) on a rota basis.
You will be joining an established team of thriving Mental Health Occupational Therapists within Nottingham West PCN and the wider PICs team, who have recently presented their successful service to HRH Princess Anne. PCN have also set up successful group programmes alongside Mental Health and Well-Being Coaches. In 2025 the MH OTs have won a Clinical Innovation award at the OT Excellence Awards alongside being shortlisted for the HSJ awards.
You will be an integral part of the Nottingham West Mental Health Team including the Mental Health Team Lead and two Mental Health OTs, as well as three Mental Health and Well-Being Coaches. In the team there is also a mental health practitioner with close links to the local secondary care mental health team. You will also have support from our Occupational Therapist Clinical Lead who is on the PICS Leadership Team.

Main duties of the jobKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Undertake assessments of patients with mental health difficulties following triage by a GP or senior clinician, working within agreed pathways and under appropriate supervision as required.
To help patients identify their needs and make shared decisions about management using current evidenced based practice.
Liaise with Primary Care colleagues to ensure that all the patients needs are addressed.
Support Primary Care colleagues development in the best treatment and onward management strategies by attending meetings, delivering educational sessions and supporting PCN Practitioners.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
HCPC registered
Occupational Therapy Qualification.
Experience in Adult Mental Health (placement experience will be considered)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Maintain own competency to practice through Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities and participate in the review and appraisal process. To adhere to the individual Professional code of conduct and practice at all times.

- Provide clear and concise summaries of appointments, communicate treatment plans, raise any concerns to senior staff or the GP as appropriate, and request additional support or input when needed.
