Overview
Fire Safety Adviser – Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The closing date is 11 February 2026. This role supports the Trust with the effective management of Fire Safety and reports to the Trust Senior Fire Safety Adviser within the Health and Safety Team. The post is based in Nottingham (flexible) with work across Trust sites to support statutory fire safety responsibilities.
The Fire Safety Team provides specialist advice to staff, senior managers and Trust Directors. Experience of fire risk assessments in complex settings and relevant fire safety qualifications is essential. You will be required to produce and deliver training, supported by a relevant training qualification. You will provide specialist support on all aspects of fire safety and assist with implementing the Trusts Fire Safety Policy.
Knowledge of Building Control Guidance documents and current fire safety legislation is essential, with significant experience of NHS standards and legislative requirements.

Main duties of the job- Support the Fire Safety Team in delivering, monitoring and evaluating all aspects of fire safety across the Trust.
- Promote the Trusts Fire Team (Health & Safety Team) as a centre of excellence.
- Advise and assist management in the interpretation and application of Firecode, fire safety legislation, and other healthcare guidance.
- Advise management on responsibilities related to key fire safety duties in the Fire Policy when requested.
- Investigate fire-related incidents and fire alarm actuations when needed.
- Manage and supervise purchasing, siting and maintenance of all fire fighting equipment and fixed installations.
- Contribute to the design phase of capital and revenue building projects with regard to fire safety, attend site meetings, carry out fire safety checks on contractors sites and report breaches of legislation.
- Prepare and implement an efficient training programme for all staff on fire safety, including evacuation procedures.
- Undertake and complete fire risk assessments, provide advice, facilitation and training for staff; develop and maintain standards working with managers.
- Undertake surveys and audits related to Fire Safety.
- Liaise with the Local Fire Authority during building inspections.
- Perform other duties that would be a reasonable expectation of the role.
A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use are required for this post; reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
