Overview
We have a great opportunity for a GP assistant to join a great team in Nottingham. You will be working within a forward-thinking Service, as part of a fantastic team with a wide range of great benefits.

Responsibilities- Help liaise with outside agencies (e.g., getting an on-call doctor on the phone to ask advice or arrange admission while the GP continues with consultations).
- Carry out the administration elements of clinical audits with the Lead GP to ensure completion and dissemination of results.
- Support with clinical compliance and governance alongside the practice team.
- Carry out administrative tasks, combined in some areas with basic clinical duties such as monitoring patient blood pressure, body temperature, dipping urine, ECGs, phlebotomy, immunisations, wound care.
- Sort clinical post and prioritise for the GP/clinical team; signpost to others (e.g., clinical pharmacist) as appropriate.
- Extract information from clinical letters for coding and add to notes according to agreed protocols.
- Review laboratory results and act according to agreed protocols.
- Arrange appointments, referrals, tests and follow-up for patients.
- Proactively contact patients to arrange appointments or follow up.
- Complete basic forms and core elements for GP approval (e.g., insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency forms).
- Attend and contribute to internal and external meetings as requested to support service delivery.
- Maintain good working relationships with all clinical and non-clinical staff and report problems to the relevant person.
- Reception or customer care experience is essential
- The person must be an excellent communicator both spoken and written
- Must be well presented
- Must have PC skills – will be able to use basic Word, Excel and e-mail
- Must be able to work within processes/procedures
- Should be personable, polite and patient. Needs to have an empathy with patients, some of whom may not be so patient or polite because of anxiety
- Needs to be able to remain calm in fraught circumstances
- Needs to maintain confidentiality and data security
- Needs to apply common sense when dealing with situations which do not fit the norm
- Must be adaptable and comfortable dealing with changing priorities
- Must be flexible to work different shifts as required by business needs
- Must be a team player
- An understanding of confidentiality is required and the ability to use own judgment
- Pay rates always above the national or London Living Wage - that means a minimum of £11 per hour nationally and £12.05 per hour in London in 2023.
