Town Planner & Senior Town Planner - Manchester - Consultancy
Salary: £30,000 - £45,000pa, dependent on grade and experience + benefits
My client is a small, well-established planning consultancy based in central Manchester, with a strong reputation for delivering complex and challenging development projects across England, Scotland and Wales.
The consultancy operates nationally and is particularly well known for major greenfield housing and employment developments, alongside development management, development plan promotion and expert witness work (including planning appeals and legal proceedings). This breadth of work offers exposure rarely found in consultancies of this scale.
About the RoleDue to continued workload, my client has immediate requirements for Chartered Town Planners and Senior Town Planners to join their team.
You will be trusted from day one to manage projects and client relationships, working on schemes from initial appraisal through to determination and appeal, with direct exposure to clients and stakeholders throughout.
Senior Town Planner Responsibilities- Managing a personal caseload including appraisals, pre-applications, applications and appeals
- Producing fee proposals for Director approval
- Supporting and managing the workload of Planners and Graduates where appropriate
- Mentoring and assisting Planners and Graduates working towards MRTPI
- Contributing to business development, where of interest
- Managing a personal caseload, primarily minor development projects
- Assisting senior colleagues on appraisals, pre-applications, applications and appeals
- Gaining early exposure to major development projects
- Chartered MRTPI (mandatory)
- Private sector or client-side background preferred (public sector candidates considered if commercially minded)
- Full UK driving licence
- Permanent right to work and live in the UK
- Able to attend the Manchester office at least 3 days per week
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Annual leave entitlement:
- Senior Planner: 30 days including bank holidays
- Planner: 28 days including bank holidays
- Discretionary paid Christmas closure (typically Christmas Eve to early January)
- RTPI fees paid for Chartered members
