We’re looking for a proactive and analytical Risk Officer to join our Risk Assurance and Audit team helping to protect public funds improve services and support sound decision-making across Nottingham City Council.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping how the Council identifies and manages risk supporting teams to work confidently and collaboratively while ensuring we deliver the very best for our citizens.

• Supporting the delivery and development of the Council’s risk management strategy and frameworks.
• Working closely with services to identify, assess and mitigate operational and strategic risks.
• Helping to maintain and review Directorate and Service Risk Registers and facilitate regular risk reviews.
• Presenting and discussing key risks with senior leaders and providing expert advice and assurance.
• Supporting training and advising managers and risk owners through workshops and best‑practice guidance.
• Collaborating with colleagues across Internal Audit, Counter Fraud and Insurance to strengthen governance and assurance.
• Promoting a culture of integrity, transparency and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.

• A solid understanding of risk management principles and techniques.
• Enjoys collaborating with others to find practical, creative solutions.
• Is confident using data and digital tools (e.g. SharePoint) to analyse and communicate insights.
• Has relevant experience working within a risk management environment (ideally in local government).
• Can deliver clear, engaging presentations and facilitate discussions with senior leaders.
• Values equality, diversity, inclusion and sustainability in everything you do.

A relevant qualification in risk management or a related field would be an advantage.
