A high‑growth UK B2B services SME is seeking a commercially astute Finance Manager to support its continued expansion.
Reporting directly to the Group CFO, the Finance Manager will take ownership of the finance function across two operating companies. This is a hands‑on, influential role suited to someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys balancing operational detail with strategic input.
The OpportunityYou will lead day‑to‑day financial operations, ensure robust controls, deliver accurate reporting, and provide strategic insight to support decision‑making. You will work closely with the Managing Director and Leadership Team, offering analysis and recommendations that shape the company’s financial future.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare monthly management accounts
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and commentary
- Produce financial dashboards for the Leadership Team and Board
- Manage VAT returns, payroll journals, and statutory requirements
- Liaise with external accountants and oversee the annual audit
- Maintain strong financial controls and processes
- Monitor cash flow and working capital
- Oversee invoicing, credit control, and supplier payments
- Support implementation of new financial systems and tools
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities and operational efficiencies
- Contribute to business planning, growth modelling, and investment decisions
- Prepare financial packs for Board and investor/lender meetings
- Evaluate ROI on technology investments and new initiatives
- Support pricing strategies and commercial analysis
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Support mentoring, development, and future recruitment of junior finance staff
- Ensure compliance with HMRC, Companies House, and relevant regulations
- 3–5 years’ experience as a Finance Manager, ideally within an SME or scale‑up
- Strong experience preparing management accounts and leading budgeting/forecasting
- Solid understanding of UK financial compliance, VAT, and reporting
- Proficiency with finance systems and automation tools
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
- Exposure to investor reporting or corporate finance activity (M&A, due diligence, exit prep)
- Experience in operationally complex or asset‑heavy environments
- Background in technology‑enabled or subscription‑based businesses
