Group Accountant / Hybrid / 1 day a week in the office / Nottingham

17 Group is a listed global games label, creative partner, and developer of independent ("indie") premium video games, entertainment apps for children and working simulation games. The head office is situated in Nottingham with development studios in Wakefield and Manchester whilst the Group has divisional offices in 3 other countries. The recently setup Group team is looking to grow after acquiring Story Toys in July 2021 and astragon in January 2022 and reaching revenues of £159m at 31 December 2023.
the role
The Group accountant will play a vital role both in consolidating and delivering the monthly results of the Group and maintaining the Group Company's ledger during an exciting period of growth for the Group. The varied role includes supporting with the preparation of the annual report and audit process, managing monthly payroll and the intercompany ledgers. The role involves communicating with the various divisions within the Group in UK, Ireland, Germany and the USA.
You will report into the Group Financial Controller and work with the team to ensure timely delivery of all reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly Group consolidation including key reconciliations and checks.
- Assist in the preparation of Board reporting from the Group consolidation.
- Management and design of annual and half year reporting packs to ensure accurate and timely reporting across the business units.
- Management of the Group share option schemes including calculating the monthly journal for the various businesses within the Group
- Support the Group with managing its treasury function by consolidating Group cashflow reporting.
- Assist in the transition to Netsuite reporting and consolidation. Previous experience of Netsuite and NSPB (or similar Business Planning and Consolidation tools) is preferred.
- Ownership of the Group Company ledger including calculating and processing of journals for the business and preparation of month end reconciliations.
- Evolve and improve the Group company controls and processes in line with Group policies and procedures.
- Calculate and submit intercompany recharges to other businesses within the Group and ensure the reconciliation of intercompany balances on a monthly basis
- Ownership of the small Group Company purchase ledger ensuring invoices are processed and paid on time, and that controls are correctly followed within the Group Company.
- Approve the monthly payroll and ensuring timely payment.
- Operating the banking function for all Group Company payments
- Assist with the preparation of the Group consolidated annual report whilst working with the Group's auditors to ensure timely sign off and delivery.
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns for the Group Company and assistance with the preparation of information for our corporate tax advisors.
- Maintain the Groups treasury reporting and assist in cashflow reporting and forecasting throughout the Group.
This is not an exhaustive list and the core duties may be amended in the future in line with company, finance and business requirements.
