Gandey World Class Productions are international producers of large-scale circus, cabaret, and live entertainment, touring worldwide. We create and deliver ambitious touring productions under custom-built Big Tops and in bespoke venues, working with world-class performers and technical teams across multiple international markets.
Our productions tour extensively across the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Middle East, Asia, and Australia, delivering high-quality live entertainment to diverse audiences worldwide.
We are now seeking a Deputy Head Technician to join our technical team on a brand-new 2026 international circus tour. This is a senior touring role, ideal for an experienced and motivated technician looking to take the next step within a professional, large-scale touring environment.
The RoleWorking closely with the Technical Manager and Head Technician, the Deputy Head Technician will play a key role in the preparation, operation, and delivery of our touring productions. You will support all technical aspects of the show, from build and rehearsal through to performance and get-out, ensuring the highest technical and safety standards are maintained throughout the tour.
This role involves hands‑on technical responsibility, team collaboration, and operational support across lighting, power, and show systems within a touring Big Top environment.
Key Responsibilities- Work alongside the Technical Manager and Head Technician to prepare, test, and maintain show equipment
- Support technical operations during build‑ups, rehearsals, performances, and get‑outs
- Carry out routine equipment maintenance and report faults or damage promptly
- Assist with show operation, including:
- Management of set electrics and electrically powered costume elements
- Performance duties will vary depending on show requirements and will be allocated by the Technical Manager and Head Technician
- Uphold all health, safety, and operational standards across the tour
Desirable Experience
- Valid Public Liability Insurance
- Strong technical competence within live entertainment environments
- Experience working with:
- Site power and generators
- Installation and operation of sound equipment
- Previous touring experience (circus, theatre, or live events)
- Working at height training and experience (training can be provided)
- Experience using QLab and grand
MA software
- Engagement is on a self‑employed contractual basis for the 2026 touring season
- Accommodation is provided in the form of a dedicated touring caravan for the duration of the contract
- Technicians may use their own campervan or caravan, subject to appropriate standards
- Personal vehicles and trailers must be well maintained, including:
- Mileage is paid for the use of personal vehicles
- Transport can be provided where required
- Work on international touring productions of significant scale
- Be part of an experienced, professional technical team
