Salary: £65,000 - £70,000 (Dependant on experience)
EMBS Engineering has been instructed on an exclusive basis to appoint a critical hire for a highly respected, precision engineering business specialising in build-to-print solutions for demanding sectors including Nuclear, Aerospace, Defence, and Energy. Known for technical excellence, quality, and long-term customer partnerships, our client is looking to expand and hit new record heights. As such, we are now seeking a Head of Engineering.
The Role:
As the primary engineering authority, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team across NPI, process engineering, and tooling. You’ll be responsible for bridging the gap between customer specifications and operational execution, ensuring our build-to-print environment remains lean, efficient, and technologically advanced.

Key Responsibilities:
* Define the engineering roadmap, foster a culture of accountability, and develop a high-performing technical team.
* Act as the lead authority for interpreting customer drawings, BOMs, and specifications; manage engineering changes and manufacturability reviews.
* Oversee process flows, tooling concepts, and work instructions for machining and fabrication, ensuring cost-effective and compliant production.
* Drive New Product Introduction, from risk assessment (DFM/PFMEA) through to successful FAI/PPAP.
* Partner with Quality to lead root-cause analysis and champion initiatives to reduce scrap, cycle times, and process variability.
About You:
Having previously led engineering functions, you’ll have familiarity and be competent to showcase the following:
* Right-First-Time NPI:
Seamless program launches that meet cost and timeline targets.
* Operational Impact:
Direct improvements in yield, quality, and manufacturability through lean principles.
* Technical Partnership:
Strong, trust-based relationships with customers and internal senior leadership.
* Compliance:
Maintaining gold-standard engineering documentation (ISO
9001, AS9100).
