Job DescriptionWe are recruiting for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our expanding Building Structures team in Nottingham. The team works closely with multidisciplinary groups covering Building (MEP, Civil, and Structural) Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Transportation, Water, Energy, and environmental consultancy.
What you’ll do!The Senior Structural Engineer will lead and support mid-large projects from concept to handover, delivering on quality, time, and budget. This role suits someone with a Structural engineering degree who is enthusiastic, self‑motivated, and looking to advance their career. The successful candidate will ideally be chartered or working towards chartered status.
Responsibilities- Prepare specifications, schedules, drawings, and other contract documents through the RIBA/project stages.
- Manage the Structural design delivery of projects from concept through to completion, organising a team to execute the work.
- Attend project and Client meetings on behalf of AECOM.
- Prepare planning, design, and feasibility reports.
- Ensure that project work complies with the Project Management Plan and Programme.
- Lead by example, applying value engineering and modern computational methods and technology with operational control skills.
- Provide high‑level value engineering led technical expertise when applying structural engineering principles, techniques, and methods to the planning and design of building design projects.
- Ensure all quality, environmental, and sustainability aspects of the project are identified, assessed, and addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery.
- Passion and drive for helping Clients solve their engineering challenges.
- Team player, ready to engage across disciplines and work together.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience in Structural Engineering, including developing detailed design drawings and calculations, specification writing, and compiling technical reports.
- Track record in Structural Engineering across sectors such as Defence, Justice, Education, Commercial, Healthcare, etc.
- Experience of seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with Clients.
- Track record of delivering sustainable designs.
- Knowledge of governing structural design standards such as Eurocodes, BS, Building Regulations.
- Active UK SC Clearance or ability to gain it, ideally single UK nationality.
- Relevant Structural Engineering degree and sufficient industry experience to allow Chartered progression.
- Chartered or qualifications to become chartered.
- Any Justice sector or equivalent experience would be beneficial but not essential.
