An opportunity has arisen for a Power Civils Lead Engineer to play a key role in delivering civil engineering solutions across major UK power infrastructure projects. This position offers the chance to take technical ownership, influence design standards and support engineers developing towards professional accreditation.

You will be joining a respected engineering consultancy with a strong and growing portfolio of transmission and distribution schemes. With continued investment in energy networks, you will be contributing to projects ranging from new-build substations to grid reinforcement and renewable connections.

As a Power Civils Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for leading civil design activities across multiple schemes. You will be reviewing and approving design packages, ensuring compliance with National Grid technical standards and maintaining robust quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle. A clear and practical understanding of UK power networks is essential, particularly within transmission and distribution environments, along with knowledge of CDM regulations and relevant environmental legislation.

• Leading and coordinating civil design delivery for substations, upgrades and wider grid infrastructure projects
• Ensuring designs meet industry technical standards and internal governance requirements
• Mentoring junior engineers, including those working towards Chartered or CDA level

The role would suit someone operating at Chartered level (CDA) or actively working towards it. However, strong junior candidates with a solid grounding in power network standards and technical compliance will also be considered. The most important requirement is a clear understanding of power networks and the technical standards that underpin safe and effective delivery.

The salary for this Power Civils Lead Engineer position is £50,000 - £70,000 dependent on experience. While the office base is in the Midlands and local candidates are preferred, applications from other locations will be considered where travel is manageable.
