Electronics An exciting opportunity has arisen for an NPI Quality Engineer to join an one of our customers based in Nottinghamshire. This role is ideal for a quality-focused engineer with experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing within electronics or electro-mechanical product environments. As an NPI Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in introducing new electronic products into production, validating manufacturing processes, and ensuring ongoing product quality throughout the full product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, transitioning products from development into volume manufacturing. Lead pilot builds, production trials, line qualifications, and full process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ). Work closely with design engineering, R&D, product management, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth production ramp-up. Embed Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Test (DFT), and serviceability requirements into product designs. Develop and support automated and semi-automated test solutions, including scripting for measurement, calibration, logging, and programming.
Create and maintain manufacturing quality documentation, including:
Process Control Plans, PFMEAs, First Article Inspections (FAI), Validation and qualification reports Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to resolve quality issues, manage non-conformances, and support part qualification or substitution. Analyse yield, scrap, rework, and field returns, driving root cause analysis and CAPA activities. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality systems and relevant regulatory standards such as CE and UKCA.
Maintain laboratory equipment, test fixtures, and calibration systems to ensure accurate and traceable measurements. Skills & Experience Required Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent industry experience. Proven experience in NPI Engineering, Manufacturing Quality Engineering, or Process Engineering within electronics or electro-mechanical manufacturing. Strong understanding of the product lifecycle, from prototype and pilot builds through full production and end-of-life.
Experience working with contract manufacturers, global suppliers, and supply chain partners. Hands-on experience with quality tools and methodologies including: PFMEA, SPC, 8D, 5 Whys, CAPA Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems and standards such as IPC-A-610. Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles is advantageous. Basic programming or scripting experience in C# and/or Python is desirable. Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
