AECOM have an exciting opportunity for an SH&SE Advisor to join our award-winning Environment & Energy SH&SE Team. As we are National team this position can be based at any of our main office locations including Basingstoke Manchester Croydon Nottingham with a preference being to London and the Southeast areas due to large client projects in these areas.
The Health and Safety Advisor will work in collaboration with the Health and Safety Lead and support in the delivery of best practice health and safety through the design and pre‑construction site activities phase of one of the UK’s largest energy upgrade projects over its 8‑to‑10‑year program.
Within the AECOM Arup joint venture this role will support the project team and be tasked with safeguarding the health and safety of all project staff and those that may be affected by our activities.
The role scope will include the collaboration and co‑creation of technical health & safety deliverables, oversight of project planning, task planning and work execution, support the delivery of culture and initiative campaigns, formulate reports, etc. as well as other work streams to embed health, safety and wellbeing through project delivery.
Heres what youll do:- Safety Champion: Act as a prominent advocate for health (including wellbeing) safety and the environment fostering continuous improvement and innovation to cultivate a mature safety culture.
- Management Systems Implementation: Collaborate with the project team to apply health and safety protocols, systems and procedures.
- Client Engagement: Engage and collaborate with the Client and the delivery partner representatives.
- SH&SE Promotion: Deliver and support health and safety initiatives campaigns etc. and track results evaluating program effectiveness across projects.
- SH&SE Advice Support & Guidance: Offer health and safety counsel, assistance and direction to project personnel.
- One HS&W Team: Collaborate with peers, colleagues and managers to form a cohesive team that respects, supports and works together towards common goals.
- Project / Operational Meetings: Participate in, contribute to and represent AECOM in health and safety matters in project meetings.
- Reporting: Generate reports for all managed works and projects to convey status, performance and improvements; reporting to the SH&SE Director, H&S Manager and project leadership team.
- Assurance: Complete regular assurance activities across projects to promote procedural alignment and correct any non‑conformances.
- Accident Review Management & Investigations: Conduct thorough investigations of all incidents and accidents ensuring adherence to AECOM and client systems.
- Health and Safety Advisor experience including experience in energy construction or pre‑construction projects for a principal contractor or consultant.
- Hold formal health and safety qualifications such as NEBOSH General / Construction Certificate.
- Collaborate effectively within a team and be capable of making clear, concise and well‑considered decisions.
