About the School

This independent special school supports pupils aged 9–17 with a wide range of additional needs including autism, ADHD, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), attachment needs, trauma backgrounds, and other specific learning difficulties. The school provides an enabling, caring community where pupils can flourish academically, socially and emotionally.

The environment is enriched with strong outdoor learning opportunities, extensive grounds, and a curriculum shaped to encourage engagement and hands-on learning. Physical education, outdoor education and creative approaches to core subjects feature heavily in their offer.

The Role

We are seeking a compassionate and resilient SEN Teacher to deliver high-quality teaching to Key Stage 2 and 3 learners who require tailored, therapeutic approaches to education.

Desirable specialism:Physical EducationThe school places a strong emphasis on developing active, healthy lifestyles and a PE specialist would be well-placed to contribute to both curriculum delivery and enrichment programmes.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons for KS2/3 pupils with complex needs
  • Embedding therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches in everyday teaching
  • Working closely with the clinical and pastoral teams to support holistic development
  • Using creative, practical and outdoor-based methods to inspire learning
  • Contributing to PE and/or outdoor learning activities (if specialising in PE)

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)
  • Experience teaching pupils with SEN, SEMH or complex behavioural needs
  • Ability to build trust, inspire confidence, and maintain a nurturing learning environment
  • Ideally, a strong background or specialism in Physical Education
  • A proactive, reflective practitioner committed to helping pupils thrive
