This role will appeal to a drama or theatre graduate keen to develop skills in directing, theatre production and design. This full‑time, permanent position is ideal for those pursuing a career in theatre or performing arts education and offers mentoring, high‑quality facilities, and accommodation throughout the year.

Theatre and Drama thrive ils engage fully both onstage and behind the scenes. Productions range from major musical to classic plays and innovative smaller‑scale projects. Facilities include a 300‑seat proscenium arch theatre, the versatile Williams Studio, three full‑time technicians and a contemporary workshop that supports professional‑quality productions.

Job Purpose

The Theatre Graduate Assistant supports co‑curricular and curriculum work, assisting with all aspects of drama and theatre. They will also serve as a tutor in one of the School’s boarding houses.

Key Responsibilities Theatre & Drama Support
  • Provide administrative support to the Theatre Department
  • Assist in School productions
  • Run the weekly Lower School Drama Society
  • Direct the Lower School Production
  • Support Sixth Form with their annual play
  • Assist with Front of House coordination
  • Help manage costume, props and makeup
  • Support LAMDA and Mountview examinations
  • Assist with marketing and external events programme
  • Organise theatre trips
  • Support GCSE Drama and A Level Theatre Studies practical work
  • Supervise private study and evening rehearsals
  • Provide department cover and assist teaching Lower School drama
  • Support theatre/drama outreach and scholars’ workshops
Tutoring Responsibilities
  • Weekly one‑to‑one tutorials
  • One weekly duty evening in the boarding house
  • Complete administrative records
  • Attend tutor meetings and house lunches
  • Support trips, house events and Speech Day
  • Communicate with parents when required
General Responsibilities
  • Uphold the staff code of conduct
  • Meet safeguarding and EDI responsibilities
  • Support School marketing and communications when required
  • Follow all health and safety protocols
Qualifications, Skills & Personal Qualities Skills & Experience
  • Experience with HMC/GSA school values (desirable)
  • Directing or co‑directing productions
  • Experience with secondary aged pupils (desirable)
  • Understanding of backstage/technical theatre
  • Good IT skills
