Secondary-Aged Learners | 1:1 & Small Group Support | SEMH & EHCP Focus | Short & Long-Term Roles
Are you an experienced and committed Alternative Provision Support Worker with a passion for supporting young people who require a more tailored, therapeutic approach to education?
Link3 Recruitment are seeking resilient, compassionate, and skilled Alternative Provision Support Workers to join our trusted supply pool for full-time (5 days per week) roles across NG2 and surrounding areas. We are recruiting for immediate and upcoming opportunities within Alternative Provision settings, pupil referral units (PRUs), and specialist education environments, offering short-term and long-term placements.
About the Role:
You will be supporting secondary-aged pupils who are educated outside of mainstream settings due to SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or additional learning needs. Many learners will have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and require consistent, structured support to re-engage with learning and develop positive behaviours.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing 1:1 and small group support within Alternative Provision settings
* Supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and associated behavioural needs
* Implementing EHCP strategies and personalised behaviour plans
* Managing challenging behaviour using calm, positive, and restorative approaches
* Supporting academic engagement, emotional regulation, and social development
* Building trusting relationships to promote independence and resilience
What You Must Have:
* Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths & English
* Proven experience working within Alternative Provision, PRU, or similar settings
* Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
* Excellent communication skills and a nurturing, consistent approach
* A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people on a 1:1 basis
All applicants must hold a valid Right to Work in the UK, which will be verified as part of our safeguarding and compliance process.
DBS:
All applicants must undergo an Enhanced DBS Check (Child Workforce) prior to starting work, unless registered on the Update Service. The cost of a new DBS will be covered by the applicant.
Why Work With Us?
* Opportunities within Alternative Provision and specialist education settings
* Short-term and long-term roles to suit your availability and career goals
* Competitive rates of pay
* Support from an REC-accredited agency that values your experience
* The opportunity to make a meaningful, lasting impact on young people who need it most
This is more than just a role — it’s an opportunity to be part of a dedicated team helping young people re-engage with education and move towards positive futures through skilled, consistent, and compassionate support.
