Sutherland House School is a non-maintained special school for autistic children and young people aged 3-19. The school is in the heart of the Creative Quarter in the City Centre located near the Sneinton Avenues market area.
At Sutherland House school Positive Behaviour Support and Person-Centred approaches are of paramount importance and you will be able to contribute to the continued strategic and operational development of this. We offer small Class groups, high staffing ratios and excellent opportunities for training and continued professional development.
Asthe Assistant Head Teacherandmemberofthe School Senior Leadership Team , youwill work with the Head Teacher to inspire, motivate, lead, and manage the infrastructure,environment,andresourcesof
Sutherland House School .
You will support the Head Teacher in the translation of Autism East Midlands and Sutherland House School vision into clear objectives that promote and sustain measurable school development. Youwill communicateasharedvision,andethosinsupportofthedelivery of a strategic plan which reflects the needs of the school as part of Autism East Midlandsinitswidercontext.
You will provide leadership across Autism East Midlands education services (Sutherland House School ) ensuringthecontinuingoperation,development,andimprovementofthe servicesandeducationprovided,workingin collaborationwiththe Governing Body,Boardof Trustee sand Autism East Midlandsseniormanagementteam .
As Assistant Head Teacher you will share responsibility with the School Senior Leadership Teamforensuringthattheschoolcontinuouslyimprovesforthebenefitofitspupilsand their community. You will have responsibility for the delivery of a defined area of theSchool Development Plan .
As a member of the school leadership team, you will play a critical role in the translation of its vision into clear objectives that promote and sustain measurable school development; ensuring that the school continuously improves and is aspirational for our students.
You will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with the School Governing Body, Board of Trustees and Autism East Midlands’ Senior Management Team.
You will have responsibility for the defined area of the school which will be decided following appointment. You will also receive designated safeguarding lead training to act as a deputy safeguarding lead alongside the designated safeguarding lead.
Previous experience with autistic children and young people or teaching in an additional needs environment at any age is desirable but full training and support will be given. We also welcome applications from colleagues who have experience of teaching core subjects.
