Job Overview

We are offering a Junior Clinical Fellow position in Anaesthesia at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, commencing August 2025. This fixed‑term post is initially for 6 months with the possibility of extension.

Qualifications
  • Full GMC registration.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience practising Anaesthesia.
  • Suitable for Core and Specialty (Stage 1 and Stage 2) training candidates, including those who have not yet passed the Primary FRCA.
  • Any experienced Anaesthetist seeking further clinical exposure and portfolio‑boosting opportunities to prepare for ST4+ specialty training is encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of a high‑quality 24‑hour Anaesthetic service, including participation in out‑of‑hours rotas covering Enhanced Perioperative Care (EPOC), Obstetrics, and Critical Care alongside General Anaesthesia duties.
  • Work flexibly according to service demand.
  • Maintain a logbook and portfolio, engage with supervision, undergo medical appraisal, and develop a learning plan/PDP.
  • Comply with Trust health and safety policies, mandatory training requirements, and GMC guidance on maintaining good medical practice.
  • Provide internal cover for colleagues on leave and, on exceptional occasions, cover sickness; all rota duties are EWTD compliant.

    Maintain effective working relationships with anaesthetic, nursing, operating department, critical care, midwifery, and surgical colleagues.

Location

There are two campuses, situated 5 miles apart. Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) is the acute setting with a major trauma centre, emergency department, children’s hospital, and simulation centre. Nottingham City Hospital (NCH) delivers planned care, including cardiac, thoracic, urology, cancer surgery, and renal transplants.
