Excavator Operator
Location:
Nottingham (covering Areas 7 & 8 – Midlands / East)
Contract:
Permanent
Salary: £43,000 + Night Allowance (Time & 1/3)
Role Overview :
We are recruiting an experienced Excavator Operator to join a respected national contractor delivering highways and civil engineering works across Areas 7 & 8. Based around Nottingham, you will work across Midlands and Eastern region sites, supporting major infrastructure schemes with long-term, stable workload.
The ideal candidate will be confident operating 360 excavators, understand safe working practices around live sites, and be willing to assist the wider site team when required.
This role offers strong earning potential due to night work paid at time and a third.
Key Responsibilities:
• Safely and efficiently operate 360 excavators on active civil engineering sites
• Complete digging, grading, trenching, and lifting operations as directed
• Support groundworks teams when not on the machine
• Carry out daily plant checks and report defects promptly
• Work collaboratively with engineers, supervisors, and operatives
• Follow method statements, RAMS, and site instructions at all times
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment
• Represent the company in a professional manner on all sites
Skills & Experience Required:
• Valid CPCS or NPORS Excavator (360) ticket – above & below 10T preferred
• Proven experience on highways, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects
• Strong awareness of Health & Safety and safe plant operation
• Ability to read and follow instruction, levels, and site plans
• Willingness to undertake groundworks when required
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Full driving licence preferred
