We are seeking a part time Medical Secretary to join our friendly team, ideally from a secretarial/administrative background.

Main duties of the job

You would be working alongside two other part time secretaries to help support and cover leave periods. Provide general secretarial support to the practice manager, doctors and other health professionals, involving audio/copy typing, electronic hospital referrals and general clerical work.

We are a friendly team of around 30 staff, mentoring student doctors, we are a research practice, situated in a purpose built facility providing care for around 9000 patients.

We offer a competitive salary plus 4 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays pro rata rising to 5 weeks pro rata after 3 years service and NHS Pension Scheme.

Job responsibilities

You would be responsible for undertaking a wide range of secretarial and administration duties to provide support to the practice team. Duties can include but are not limited to, processing of information (electronic and hard copy) in a timely manner, liaising with other team members and external agenices such as second care and community service providres in accoderance with current polciies, including the use of the electronic referral service (ERS).

Specification Experience
  • Knowledge of a range of secretarial or administrative procedures
  • Able to update and maintain systems and produce information as required.
  • Working in primary care.
  • Previous NHS experience using NHS IT systems.
  • Medical terminology.
Qualifications
  • 4 GCSEs or equivalent including English.
  • Knowledge of using software programmes e.g., Microsoft office.
  • Willingness to undertake training on medical system.
  • Minute taking.
  • RSA 2 typing/work processing or equivalent.
  • Recognised qualification in secretarial/administration.
