Job Description

Purpose:

The Product Development & Testing position supports R&D process development for commercialization of new medical wire coating applications. The successful candidate will test and analyze development processes for PTFE and non‑PTFE coatings, documenting and reporting test results.

• Test new coating process development samples in the QC lab.
• Work with R&D, Engineering, Planning, Manufacturing, and Quality on day‑to‑day process development runs; support coating formulation preparation as needed.
• Apply ASTM standards for QC testing methods and inspections (friction, tensile, scratch/nanoindentation, pin‑on‑wire, saline‑soak, microscopy). Prepare samples and operate sensitive equipment (Admet UTM, Bruker Hysitron, Instron, Anton Paar, VHX) with care to avoid damage and ensure data reliability.
• Analyze test outputs using MTESTQuattro, Tribo Scan, Origin, and Python; recognize good vs. bad data, troubleshoot anomalies, and suggest improvements to methods and sample preparation.
• Prioritize multiple test requests, plan long‑cure sample preparation steps, and maintain consistent test quality despite equipment limitations and non‑standardized methodologies.
• Author test method documentation, participate in test method validation, and write test data reports and procedures.
• Work within the company‑wide quality documentation system and follow ISO 13485/GMP Quality Management System requirements.

• Minimum of a 2‑year degree; a bachelor’s degree is a plus.
• Work experience required; materials testing lab experience strongly preferred.
• Strong computer and communication skills.
• Self‑motivated, able to work effectively both in a team and independently.
