Overview

The Role: This position is the frontline partner for Operations—owning day-to-day user support for manufacturing digital systems and implementation of changes and continuous improvements across Moderna’s manufacturing network. You will triage and resolve incidents, coach users on best practices, and keep production running smoothly in a GMP environment. This role will provide broad exposure to biopharmaceutical processes and manufacturing digital technology enabling experience in process automation and recipe design.

Primary systems in scope include Syncade (MES), Apprentice Tempo (MES), Aveva SCADA Platform, Delta

V (automation/PCS), Aveva PI System, and Wonderware (SCADA/PCS). You will collaborate across adjacent shop-floor technologies and data-historian tools and mentor junior engineers to grow team capability.

Here’s What You’ll Do

• Serve as the first point of contact for shop-floor users; troubleshoot complex issues, resolve, and document issues for Apprentice Tempo, Syncade, Delta
  
  V, Aveva SCADA Platform, Aveva PI, and BMS.

• Perform structured troubleshooting across application, configuration, and basic infrastructure layers; escalate effectively when needed.

• Coordinate with Operations, Quality, and IT to restore service quickly and minimize production impact.

• Maintain and improve support knowledge (runbooks, KB articles, SOPs); provide targeted user coaching and quick tips to reduce repeat issues.

• Execute standard change-control activities related to support (e.g., minor configuration updates, record corrections, documentation) in alignment with GxP and data-integrity expectations.

• Monitor system health and alerts; identify patterns and propose corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) or continuous improvement suggestions.

• Participate in planned maintenance windows for support validation and post-maintenance checks.

• Contribute to compliance activities (deviations, investigations, periodic reviews) from a systems-support perspective.

• Mentor junior team members through shadowing, ticket reviews, and feedback on documentation; support onboarding and skills development to build a resilient frontline support function.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

• Clear communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in an understandable manner to various stakeholders.

• Ability to work first, second, or third shifts to support 24/7 operation.

• Site-based role; this position requires you to be at Moderna’s site full-time and is not eligible for remote work.

• Depth in two or more systems:
  Tempo, Syncade, Aveva SCADA, Delta
  
  V, or BMS, with familiarity in their integrations.

• Experience in MES business processes for electronic batch record execution; working knowledge of automation systems.

• Understanding of cGMP manufacturing operations, GAMP, and CSV/change-control practices.

• Demonstrated strength in incident triage, root-cause analysis, and clear written documentation.

• Ability to partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders under time-sensitive conditions.

• Understanding of integrated digital systems and ability to triage issues spanning multiple systems.

• Strong customer-service mindset; confident in facilitating user training and delivering concise how-to guidance.

• Experience coaching or mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team knowledge-sharing practices.

• Continuous-improvement orientation—experience reducing ticket volume through standardization or automation initiatives.
