Moderna's commitment to advancing the technological frontier of mRNA medicines ensures a challenging and rewarding career experience, with the potential to make a significant impact on patients' lives worldwide.

Moderna is solidifying its presence in Norwood, Massachusetts—a key site within our global manufacturing network. Norwood is home to our integrated clinical and commercial manufacturing operations, where science meets state‑of‑the‑art technology. At this site, we support every stage of production, from raw materials to final drug product. We’re seeking talented individuals to help us ensure uninterrupted operations across this advanced 24/7 facility.

As a key member of the Facilities and Engineering team, this position plays a critical role in sustaining operational readiness at Moderna’s Norwood campus. The Facilities Command Center Specialist provides essential oversight, diagnostics, and communication to ensure the reliability of utility systems and environmental controls in a 24/7 manufacturing setting. This individual operates with high autonomy and acts as a central coordination hub during off‑hours, making real‑time decisions that directly support manufacturing and facility performance.

With deep expertise in monitoring systems and responding to alarms and events, this role ensures continuous and compliant operations while contributing to process improvement, record integrity, and technical mentorship. It’s a pivotal opportunity for someone ready to step into a role with impact, visibility, and growing alignment with digital and AI‑driven platforms used in modern facilities management.

Here’s What You’ll Do Your key responsibilities will be:
  • Monitoring and operating Building Management Systems (BMS), Central Monitoring Systems (CMS), and utilities platforms to promptly detect and respond to system alarms.

  • Triaging alarms, coordinating interdepartmental communications (Facilities, Manufacturing, Quality, etc.) to ensure timely and effective response.

  • Investigating utility equipment faults and supporting diagnostics and recovery protocols.

Your responsibilities will also include:
  • Serving as the central communications hub for off‑hours events and alerts, ensuring continuous coordination across functions.

  • Maintaining thorough and accurate shift logs, handover reports, and system event documentation.

  • Performing preventive maintenance tasks using CMMS tools like Maximo and contributing to environmental integrity through routine building rounds.

  • Logging chemical and gas usage, maintaining pH neutralization data, and supporting procurement coordination.

  • Assisting junior team members by reinforcing SOPs, answering technical questions, and modeling best practices.

  • Participating in SOP development and suggesting continuous improvement actions based on shift learnings and system trends.

  • Engaging with new digital tools and systems that are increasingly integrated with AI‑driven platforms to optimize diagnostics and operational insights.

The key Moderna Mindsets you’ll need to succeed in the role:
  • “We behave like owners. The solutions we’re building go beyond any job description.”
This role demands initiative, independence, and accountability — you’ll be the point person when the unexpected happens. You’ll be making decisions that impact production continuity and product integrity.

  • “We digitize everywhere possible using the power of code to maximize our impact on patients.”
As Moderna increasingly integrates Generative AI and digital tools into its operations, this role offers opportunities to work with next‑generation platforms for facilities diagnostics, recordkeeping, and operational insights — elevating both performance and impact.
