Overview
Our client, a leading company in healthcare technology, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Associate to join their team. In this role you will support pharmacy billing and payment operations by accurately processing patient payments, monitoring payment activity, and assisting with account maintenance. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate patient accounts while providing professional, confidential, and patient-focused support.
Responsibilities- Process and post patient payments, including credit card, EFT/ACH, and check transactions
- Monitor and follow up on declined credit card payments and failed EFT transactions for copays and device payments
- Assist with patient account cancellations, refunds, and adjustments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient account records within the pharmacy billing system
- Apply payments to patient balances and identify and resolve basic discrepancies
- Communicate with patients regarding open balances, payment issues, and cancellations in a professional and empathetic manner
- Coordinate with pharmacy staff and billing teams to resolve payment-related questions
- Process patient device cancellations
- Prepare and mail monthly patient statements
- Assist with accounts receivable reconciliations and reporting
- Support month-end closing activities related to pharmacy accounts receivable
- Ensure compliance with company policies, HIPAA regulations, and basic accounting procedures
- Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in accounting or finance preferred
- 0–2 years of experience in accounting, billing, healthcare, or administrative support
- Basic understanding of accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle sensitive patient and financial information confidentially
- Comfort working with numbers and payment processing systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other basic computer applications
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Clear, professional communication skills with a patient-centered approach
- Experience in a pharmacy, healthcare, or medical billing environment
- Familiarity with pharmacy billing systems or payment processing platforms
- Knowledge of EFT/ACH and credit card payment processing
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
