Assistant Teacher Counselor – Direct Care (Nichols)

Positions Available: 1

Working with intellectual and developmental disability adults.

Valid Driver's License and personal vehicle required.

Staff Retention Bonus: $2,000

Location: Norwood, MA

Salary: $23,577 per year for 20 hours (part time)

Schedule:

  • Saturday: 8am – 10pm
  • Sunday: 12pm – 6pm

About the Role

As an Assistant Teacher/Counselor, you will provide direct supports, teach and provide daily living activities, and help individuals be an inclusive part of their community. You'll be based in a beautiful home in Westwood, MA, and receive a $2,000 staff retention bonus shortly after joining.

What You’ll Do
  • Collaborate with the team to plan and engage in fun activities.
  • Help individuals lead more independent and secure lives in community.
  • Provide support through case management, life skills coaching, and advocacy.
Responsibilities
  • Promote optimal health through routine, preventive, and emergency healthcare.
  • Assist with all hands‑on direct care: showering, toileting, shaving, brushing teeth, meal‑time assistance.
  • Ensure residential environments are safe and secure.
  • Provide education, training, counseling, and physical assistance to achieve ISP goals (functional academics, domestic skills, health, personal hygiene, social, leisure, communication, mobility, self‑esteem, money management).
  • Develop, write, and present annual ISPs and semi‑annual assessments.
  • Provide transportation as necessary.
  • Communicate with family, friends, guardians, funding sources, advocates, volunteers, employers to facilitate consistency.
  • Perform case management duties: maintain confidential files, review cases, document activities, and attend meetings.
