Overview

Crisis Intervention Specialist - Relief

Riverside is seeking a passionate Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS) to join our Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC) team. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing team of dedicated behavioral health professionals.

The Crisis Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing advanced skills in trauma-informed crisis intervention and de-escalation, monitoring the safety and security of the facility, and coordinating response to urgent and emergency situations. The CIS provides a therapeutic, calming, recovery-based, and pro-active presence in the program. The CIS will assist leadership with safety drills, safety protocols, facility-related initiatives, and may perform other person-served related support as interest and experience allows.

Note:

CBHC regulations require “security” positions 24/7; this role is a therapeutic, engaging presence and not a typical security guard role.

The Crisis Intervention Specialist may perform other person-served related support as interest and experience allows, including, but not limited to:

Responsibilities
  • Modeling and teaching skills for development of positive relationships and negotiation of conflict
  • Providing a calming presence in and around the facility supporting families and youth in conflict or crisis while onsite, while monitoring the safety of persons served, employees, and the facility
  • Assisting CBHC leadership in ensuring that safety drills (e.g., fire, medical, behavioral health) are held and documented as per regulation and that required fire protection and suppression equipment is present and in good working order; ensuring the maintenance of program sites to minimize fire hazards
  • Taking lead in ensuring maintenance and cleanliness of physical plant is adequate and reports to Senior Director and/or facilities are aware of any concerns
  • Responding to medical and psychiatric emergencies (e.g., opioid overdose or psychiatric symptom escalation) utilizing medical code protocols such as calling a code, administering naloxone, and administering CPR/first aid
  • Assisting with transportation to/from CBHC and the CCS site using agency or personal vehicle

Pay Rate: $25.46/hourly
