Position: Future Focused Mentor

Future Focused Mentor - Self-Employed

Location:

Norfolk

Pay: £15 - £25 per hour

Contract:

Freelance / Self-employed

Schedule:

Minimum 2 days per week, flexible up to 5 days depending on case availability

About the Role

Are you passionate about helping young people build safer, more positive futures? As a Future Focused Mentor, you will deliver targeted 1:1 interventions that support engagement, wellbeing, and re-entry into education. You'll work creatively and compassionately to help young people develop resilience, self-esteem, and positive life choices.

You will work with young people who may be at risk of:

  • Exploitation or criminal involvement
  • School disengagement or exclusion
  • Online harm or unsafe relationships
Key Responsibilities
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with young people and their families
  • Deliver engaging 1:1 mentoring sessions in community and education settings
  • Promote confidence, emotional regulation, and positive decision‑making
  • Maintain detailed case records and professional reports
  • Uphold safeguarding policies at all times
  • Support sessions on Healthy Relationships, Online Safety, and Exploitation Awareness
Person Specification
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and young people, particularly those at risk of exploitation or within the criminal justice system
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge
Key Skills
  • Resilient, calm, and professional
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Knowledge of SEND, trauma‑informed practice, and positive behaviour strategies
Additional Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance
  • Flexible to work across Norfolk
