Senior Reserves Assistant – Woods and Heaths

Norfolk Wildlife Trust are seeking a Senior Reserve Assistant to join our Woods and Heaths team based at the Mid Norfolk Foxley Wood reserves base. You will be part of the NWT Woods & Heaths Reserves Management Team and help manage 19 sites across the South, Central and North Norfolk area.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist the Reserves Manager in the supervision of staff and volunteers.
  • Carry out practical habitat management and maintenance work on Woods and Heaths sites, including grassland and fen reserves.
  • Take part in wider NWT Nature Conservation Team activities where required.
  • Support woodland and heathland habitat conservation and monitoring.
Qualifications and skills
  • Good working knowledge of wildlife conservation and local habitats.
  • Strong communication skills with colleagues and the public.
  • Ability to supervise and work as part of a team.
  • Chainsaw certificate (maintenance, crosscutting and felling small trees).
  • Aptitude for practical tasks and willingness to be trained in tractor, brush cutter, pesticide application and first aid.
  • Experience of livestock management is desirable.
