We’re supporting an established engineering business in Norfolk with the recruitment of an experienced CNC Machinist to support ongoing machining requirements within their workshop. This is a hands-on role suited to someone confident setting and operating CNC machines, producing components to tight tolerances across both batch production and one-off work. The position sits within a clean, well-organised workshop environment and offers a stable Monday-Friday day shift.
Due to the site location, own transport is required.
- Setting and operating CNC machines to produce components to specification
- Working across scheduled batch production and one-off / prototype components
- Inspecting own work using measuring equipment to ensure tolerances are met
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Liaising with engineers where required to discuss component requirements or manufacturability
- Carrying out routine machine checks, basic maintenance and general housekeeping
- Operating additional workshop equipment as required
- Following all Health & Safety procedures and PPE requirements
Essential
- Proven experience setting and operating CNC machines
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
- Confident inspecting own work using measurement tools
- Comfortable working to tight tolerances
- Reliable, organised and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Conversational programming experience (Mazatrol preferred)
- Positive approach to safety, housekeeping and timekeeping
Desirable
- Experience with Mazak machines and Mazatrol Smooth controls
- Exposure to CAD/CAM software (e.g. Hypermill)
- Tooling knowledge including feeds, speeds and tooling selection
- Understanding of basic metrology principles
