Overview
Mechanical Electrical Technician – Our client, a successful manufacturing business in Norwich, is seeking a multi‑skilled Mechanical/Electrical Technician to support the manufacture of one‑off or low‑volume mechanical assemblies, ensuring precision, quality, and client satisfaction.
Hours- Basic hours 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday – Friday
- Hours are extended in winter or reduced in summer
- Must be able to spend one or two nights away per month if required
- 24 days per annum (3–4 days to be taken over Christmas shut‑down), plus public holidays
- Profit share bonus

Skills & Qualifications
- 10+ years in mechanical electrical engineering within a technical manufacturing environment
- Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship Level 3 or above
- Understanding and experience of manufacturing processes and technical information
- Excellent planning and prioritization skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to present data effectively
- Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities
- Ability to lead teams and train individuals
- Assemble high‑quality mechanical components, sub‑assemblies, and frameworks using hand and power tools with precision techniques
- Read detailed CAD models and drawings for bespoke components and assemblies
- Recommend innovative solutions for complex mechanical challenges
- Ensure designs meet functional, safety, and compliance requirements
- Work closely with subcontract machinists, fabricators, and suppliers to ensure manufacturability
- Assist with wiring LEDs, sensors, and control panels
- Provide technical input during prototype builds and production runs
- Resolve design and process issues quickly to maintain project timelines
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to internal teams
- Support client reviews and incorporate feedback into design iterations
- Ensure all products meet company and regulatory quality standards
- Maintain compliance with industry regulations, health, and safety standards
- Ensure operations comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental policies to ensure safety and wellbeing
- Check and maintain all lifting and air equipment to ensure compliance with HSE regulations
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and certifications (such as ISO
9001, ISO
14001), driving the quality improvement processes
