Role overviewWe are looking for an experienced Ophthalmic Nurse Practitioner to join our Norwich site. Ideally, this will be 40 hours over 5 days per week including weekends on a rota basis, although part time applicants will be considered.
You’ll provide and manage a specialised patient care pathway (in YAG laser, oculoplastic minor surgery, intravitreal injections, glaucoma specialist etc). You will also be responsible for training junior staff, contributing to service development and possibly managing clinical teams.
Aside from providing specialised eye care, you'll also undertake medicine management and audit duties as well as maintaining accurate patient records. You’ll manage clinical waste and ensure the correct disposal procedures are implemented.
What skills and experience do I need?You need to be a fully qualified Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner and need a current registration with the NMC or HCPC. You will have specialised expertise in eyecare, perhaps having completed an OPT pathway, and will be able to autonomously diagnose or treat certain conditions, with previous hospital eye service or private eye clinic experience.
Alongside the mandatory qualifications the following things will be advantageous:
- Knowledge of clinical practice and aware of current developments in Optometry
- Capable of working in a fast paced, high-volume theatre or clinic setting
- The training and coaching of others
- The desire for and commitment to continuous professional development
- A competent user of computer systems and programmes
- An excellent grasp of the English language both verbally and in written format
- A good team player – happy to jump in and support others when required
- A salary of around £45,000 per year, dependent on experience
