Position: Bank Theatre Practitioner (Operating Department Practitioner/ Registered Nurse)

Overview

The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital is seeking skilled Theatre Practitioners (Registered Nurses or Operating Department Practitioners) to join our NNUH Bank (Temporary Workforce) and work shifts within our Main Theatres team. In this role, you will provide safe and effective peri-operative care, contributing to the smooth running of theatre lists and supporting high standards of patient safety, dignity and confidentiality.

You will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and demonstrate flexibility in undertaking a range of theatre duties across anaesthetic and surgical specialities.

You will work as a competent practitioner, contributing to the development of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring the most effective utilisation of resources, and undertake a full range of theatre duties appropriate to the specialty by providing skilled assistance in the anaesthetic and surgical role. You will be personally accountable for undertaking a range of enhanced skills specific to the clinical area in accordance with trust policy.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, monitor and evaluate the care needs of the peri-operative patient, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the patient s condition and reporting effectively to the appropriate person.
  • Maintain and ensure that patient safety, comfort, dignity and confidentiality remains paramount.
  • Display a professional attitude by developing and maintaining good working relationships, communication and teamwork with all disciplines, both within the Department and with other relevant Departments in the Trust.
  • Support and encourage the concept of team working and development of trust, integrity, honesty and sharing within the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ensure that all practice is in accordance with established procedures and protocols and conform with the unit s Operational Policy.

Requirements / Qualifications
  • Current NMC or HCPC registration (as applicable).
  • Recent peri-operative experience.
  • Commitment to maintaining professional competence.
  • Ability to work flexibly within a multi-disciplinary team and support a range of theatres duties across anaesthetic and surgical specialties.
Travel, DBS, NHS Service, and Practicalities
  • Visa and Immigration:
    If sponsorship is required, assess eligibility against  criteria for skilled worker visa.
  • Travelling to work:
    Onsite staff parking (limited during core hours); more capacity in evenings/weekends; travel benefits and cycles schemes may be available.
  • DBS:
    For roles involving work with children or adults, a DBS check will be required.
  • NHS Service:
    Establish any previous NHS service via ESR IAT where applicable.
