An exciting opportunity has become available to join our healthcare team as a Medical Receptionist. This vital role serves as the first point of contact for our patients, helping to create a welcoming, organised, and compassionate environment. We are seeking an individual who is dedicated to exceptional patient care, demonstrates strong communication skills, and thrives in a fast-paced setting.
Main duties of the jobYou will need to lead by example with particular interest in promoting excellence in customer service, communication with patients, equality and diversity and patient confidentiality. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrable experience of customer care and/or medical knowledge within a clinical setting. Full training will be provided.
The hours for this role are 25.5 hours per week
Tuesday 07:25 - 14:00
Thursday 07:25 - 17:50
Friday 08:00 - 18:30
About usThe Market Surgery is a busy seven doctor practice providing care to over 10,000 patients in and around Aylsham in North Norfolk.
Working from purpose-built premises, located a short walking distance from the centre of Aylsham, we aim to provide a friendly and efficient service to patients fulfilling all their primary care needs. All our consulting rooms are on the ground floor, we have a dispensary next to the reception area and we have a car park for the use of our patients.
The practice is part of North and Waveney Integrated Care Service. We are a training practice for GP Registrars and medical students.
Job responsibilitiesThe following are the core responsibilities of a medical receptionist. There maybe, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent on factors such as workload and staffing levels.
Processand effectively signpost patients to the appropriate healthcare professional,depending on the presenting condition
Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requestsappropriately
Processpatient requests for appointments
Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members and external agencies
Photocopy documentation as required
Dataentry of temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
Inputdata into the patients healthcare records as necessary
Direct requests for information, e.g., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLAforms, to the administrative team
Manageall queries as necessary in an efficient manner
Carryout system searches as requested
Maintaina clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
Monitor and maintain the reception area and noticeboards
Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
Undertake all mandatory training and induction programmes
Visitorssign in and the member of staff they are seeing are advised of their arrival
Attenda formal appraisal with their manager at least every 12 months. Once aperformance/training objective has been set, progress will be reviewed on aregular basis so that new objectives can be agreed
Contribute to public health campaigns (e.g., flu clinics) through advice or direct care
Person Specification Qualifications- Educated to GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above) or equivalent
- Active signposting or Care Navigator training qualification
- Experience of working with the public
- Experience of working in a primary care environment
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting
