Housing Officer – Tenancy Management. Temporary position or secondment opportunity.
Hours:
37 per week. Grade:
5. Salary: £32,579 to £35,412 per annum.
We are seeking motivated individuals with a strong interest in social housing to join our dynamic tenancy management team. This is a meaningful opportunity to positively impact lives while gaining valuable experience in a fast based, supportive environment. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in housing or related field. You will use your knowledge of council policies and relevant legislation to provide tenants with advice and support, helping them sustain their tenancies and contribute to safe, well managed neighbourhoods.
This is a six month fixed term position, based at City Hall. Norwich City Council is one of the largest stock-holding authorities in the country, with around 15,000 homes. This is a great opportunity to work with our tenants to really make a difference to their lives.
You will have good communication skills and be able to deal sensitively and objectively with people with a wide range of needs. The role requires you to be a competent multi-tasker with the ability to prioritise casework. You will also need to be able to work independently as well as being a good team player in a multi-agency environment. Job DescriptionWe are looking for a proactive and customer-focused housing officer to join our Tenancy services team. In this role, you will coordinate and deliver temporary relocation support for tenants affected by regeneration, major works, or emergency situations. You will be the main point of contact for residents, ensuring moves are managed efficiently and with care, while maintaining compliance with housing policies and legal requirements.
Strong organisational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work under pressure are essential.
- Temporary Relocation Coordination:
Manage the end-to-end temporary relocation process for tenants, including planning, communication, and execution. - Liaise with contractors, internal teams, and external agencies to ensure smooth property moves.
- Maintain accurate records of relocation cases and update housing management systems.
- Act as the main point of contact for tenants during the relocation process.
- Provide clear advice on rights, options, and timescales.
- Offer practical and emotional support to minimise stress and disruption.
- Ensure relocation activities comply with housing legislation, tenancy agreements, and council policies.
- Support the implementation of Norwich City Council’s temporary relocation policy and procedures.
- Monitor and report on progress, risks, and issues to the Tenancy Management Team Leader.
- Work closely with contractors, housing officers, and regeneration teams.
- Liaise with social services, support agencies, and other stakeholders where required.
- Identify opportunities to improve the relocation process and customer experience.
- Contribute to reviews and updates of relocation policies and procedures.
- Experience in housing services or customer-focused roles.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple cases.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and housing management systems.
