Being part of the management team within our Business Tax Advisory team, providing specialist corporate tax compliance and management services to our clients. Working with colleagues within the team and wider firm to actively contribute to the growth of the corporate tax team whilst monitoring the quality of work across the firm, identifying new risks and opportunities and seeking to continually exceed client expectations.
Whilst the role is primarily focused on the active management of a portfolio of clients, it is likely that there will be opportunities to get involved with tax advisory assignments, from time to time where there is a desire to do so.
- Proactive identification of solutions to client and internal issues.
- Operate at a high level of confidentiality and apply critical analysis skills.
- Lead and develop team members; manage a portfolio of clients within a top 50 accountancy practice.
- Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication with colleagues and clients.
- Manage corporate tax compliance affairs of clients with allocated portfolio.
- Research and analyse tax legislation, HMRC guidance and respond to legislative changes and HMRC enquiries.
- Undertake corporation tax compliance reviews, tax accounting and provisions for audit teams.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and participate in tax advisory work (M&A tax advice, company reorganisations, R&D claims, capital allowances, etc.).
- Meet clients, discuss compliance affairs and ensure engagement partners are updated.
- Contribute to planning work, ensuring timely deadlines for audits and internal deliverables.
- Develop team members and promote firm values in day‑to‑day actions.
- Identify and generate additional work within the portfolio; support pricing and quoting for new work.
- Maintain client relationships and spot opportunities to sell other firm services.
- Act as an ambassador at office marketing events.
- Maintain risk management, ethical standards and professional duties.
- Work with less experienced colleagues to develop their specialist areas.
- Meet deadlines, manage billing, recoveries and improve productivity and fees.
- Attend relevant training courses and maintain CPD records.
- Adhere to the firm’s risk management policies and undertake other duties as required.
- ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent.
- Significant experience working within a top 50 accountancy practice.
- Experience supporting, coaching, mentoring colleagues.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing deadlines and priorities, and work flexibly as part of a team.
- Deliver work that complies with risk management processes.
- Good communication skills with partners, teams and clients.
- Desirable: multi‑disciplined team experience, firm‑wide responsibilities, experience with Alphatax software.
