Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a specialist team working on electrical transmission and distribution networks across East Anglia.
This role focuses on the testing and commissioning of high-voltage plant and apparatus on live distribution networks, supporting projects across 11kV, 33kV and 132kV infrastructure. You will play a key role in integrating new equipment into existing protection schemes while ensuring safe and compliant delivery of commissioning activities.
Working within a substation build environment, you will contribute to the delivery of reliable electricity infrastructure and support the reinforcement and expansion of regional distribution networks.
Key Responsibilities
Test and commission high-voltage plant and apparatus on live distribution networks
Integrate new equipment with existing protection schemes
Develop and implement a commissioning plan
Provide technical support to project and site teams
Attend client and project meetings where required
Resolve technical and design issues during commissioning activities
Review and amend engineering drawings where necessary
Ensure compliance with engineering policies, procedures and legislation
Promote safe working practices and manage site activities safely
Mentor team members and support the development of technical knowledge

Requirements
Proven experience in testing and commissioning high-voltage distribution networks
Strong understanding of electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure
Knowledge of engineering policy, procedures and relevant legislation
Good understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations
Ability to resolve technical issues in live network environments
Strong stakeholder communication and coordination skills
Ability to work effectively with site teams, designers and clients
Qualifications
HNC, HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
