Job Description:
We are seeking a seasoned Data Governance Expert to design, implement, and operationalize an enterprise-wide data governance framework. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Data Governance tools such as Purview or Collibra, building core governance components such as metadata management, classifications, master data, lineage, and business glossary, along with strong expertise in data quality, policy development, data integration, and Python-based automation.

Key Responsibilities:
Define and implement enterprise data governance strategy, standards, and operating model.
Should experience in using Data Governance tools such as Purview or Collibra
Establish governance processes covering metadata, master data, data quality, lineage, and stewardship.
Work with business and IT stakeholders to align governance initiatives with organizational goals.
Configure and manage Microsoft Purview for data discovery, cataloging, and governance.
Implement and maintain Metadata management, Data classifications, End-to-end data lineage and Business glossary and data definitions
Integrate Purview with data platforms and source systems.
Design and maintain Metadata models and standards, Classification taxonomies, Master data governance models, Lineage frameworks and Business glossary workflows
Ensure consistency and usability of governance assets across the enterprise.
Define and implement data quality frameworks and metrics.
Establish rules for completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness, and validity.
Partner with engineering teams to embed data quality checks into pipelines.
Monitor data quality issues and drive remediation processes.
Develop and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
Support compliance with regulatory requirements
Collaborate with security and legal teams on data access, retention, and privacy policies.
Data Integration & Collaboration
Work closely with data engineering, analytics, security, and business teams.
Ensure governance controls are integrated into data ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers.
Support governance enablement across cloud and on-prem data platforms.
Develop Python-based automation for metadata ingestion, classification updates, lineage extraction, and reporting.
Automate governance workflows, validations, and operational reporting.
Build reusable scripts and utilities to enhance governance efficiency.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
15+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Architecture. Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview.
Proven experience building governance components:
Metadata management, Data classifications, Master data governance, Lineage & Business glossary
Strong understanding of data quality frameworks and tools. Experience in policy development and governance operating models.
Hands-on experience with Python automation. Solid understanding of data integration concepts and architectures.

Good to Have:
Microsoft Certified:
Azure Data Engineer Associate or Azure Enterprise Data Analyst Associate.

Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure). Exposure to CI/CD and version control for data models.
Knowledge of metadata management and data governance tools. Wast management or oil and gas domain knowledge
