Position Overview

The Grain Facility Manager will oversee all facility operations, including grain receiving, storage, conditioning, loading (rail & truck), safety compliance, inventory control, and team leadership. This individual will be responsible for driving operational efficiency, maintaining strong customer relationships, and building a high‑performing, cross‑trained team. Leadership is critical. The right candidate will set the tone for safety, accountability, communication, and performance.

Key Responsibilities Operations & Logistics
  • Oversee inbound/outbound grain via truck and rail
  • Coordinate railcar scheduling, loading efficiency, and freight logistics
  • Ensure accurate grading, conditioning, blending, and inventory management
  • Maintain facility equipment and infrastructure for maximum uptime
  • Optimize throughput and reduce bottlenecks during peak seasons
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop facility staff
  • Build a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Cross‑train employees to strengthen operational flexibility
  • Conduct performance management and workforce planning
  • Set clear expectations and lead by example
Customer & Business Focus
  • Maintain strong relationships with producers, truckers, rail contacts, and merchandisers
  • Support merchandising team through accurate position and quality reporting
  • Drive operational efficiencies that improve profitability
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of grain facility operations experience
  • Prior supervisory or management experience required
  • Strong understanding of rail logistics and truck flow management
  • Knowledge of grain grading, storage, and conditioning
  • Proven ability to lead teams in seasonal high‑pressure environments
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
