Description of Work
The Summer Youth Employment Program, administered by the Mayor's Office, provides jobs for young people, ages 14-18, so they can learn to navigate in a business environment, contribute to the community, gain life skills, explore a specific profession, and earn money. Minimum QualificationsTo be considered for Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program, the applicant must:
- Be at least 14 years old as of April 1, 2026.
- Not be older than 18 years old as of July 1, 2026.
- Be a Norwalk resident.
- Have a valid Social Security Number in order to participate and ensure proper payroll process.
- Have unexpired documents that establish identity and employment authorization. These documents will be required during training. Visit https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). for a list of acceptable documents. You will be notified when to bring the documents.

I. Job Introduction- The SYEP is a competitive program and is not done on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- The position pays $16.94 an hour.
- Program begins in July and runs through August.
- Interviews will take place in April/May 2026. You will receive information by e-mail about the time and location of your interview.
- If selected, all new participants are required to participate in a mandatory week-long Job Etiquette Training in June.
