As Assistant Manager, you bring Lush’s Leadership Practices into all elements of your interactions with customers, fellow staff and operations:

The ASM supports the Shop Manager as needed in all business areas and, as second‑in‑command, will pick up Manager duties to support a strong customer experience, staff experience, shop operational excellence, and exceeding sales goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: collaborate with your team to exceed daily sales goals and create a unique and inclusive customer experience.
  • Building the Brand: educate customers and staff on our brand values and articulate our positions on Fighting Animal Testing, Freshest Cosmetics, Ethical Buying, 100 % Vegetarian, Handmade, and Naked Packaging.
  • Product Passion: deepen your product knowledge and make informed recommendations for every need.
  • Driving Sales: demonstrate strong business acumen and understand metrics, budgets, and reports to impact profitability.
  • Lead Fearlessly: support your team on the sales floor, answer questions, remove obstacles, problem‑solve, and motivate them to meet sales goals.
  • Grow Talent: own your development, assess performance, seek feedback, and coach the team to elevate skills.
  • Be Real: communicate needs and feedback, being adaptable to the business as required.
  • Live with

    Purpose:

    inspire and motivate your team, building strong peer and customer relationships.
  • Recruitment and Selection: support staffing by recruiting, hiring, and succession planning.
  • Staff Development: collaborate with the Manager to improve staff engagement, retention, performance, and DEIB practices.

Operational Excellence:

  • Policies and Procedures: support compliance and ensure staff follow company standards for opening/closing, product integrity, respectful workplace, health & safety, and communication.
  • Stock and Inventory: train inventory team on fresh standards, rotation rules, and ordering to maintain right products at right times within budget.
  • Visuals and Merchandising: develop team pride in a clean, beautiful environment that follows merchandising and design standards.
  • Scheduling, Time and Attendance: schedule the right staff at peak times and record breaks/meals to support wellbeing and payroll accuracy.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 1–3 years managing or supervising in a retail environment
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent organization and time‑management skills
  • Strong customer service, supervisory, and sales skills
  • Knowledge and interest in skincare, natural beauty, and ethical business
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays, evenings, and weekends

Preferred:

  • Experience with consultation‑based customer service models
  • Ability to develop and train staff through positive coaching and feedback
  • Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office, and adaptable to other systems
  • Basic HR skills in hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management
  • Experience in cross‑cultural collaboration and DEIB or social justice training
  • Fluency in Spanish, French, or other languages
