Shift times:
Mon‑Friday 7 a‑3 30 p, 9 30 a‑6 p, 3 p‑11 p as needed;
Weekends 7 a‑3 p, 3 p‑11 p, and 11 p‑7 a. Call required.
The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care guided by the American Nurses Association (ANA) scope of practice and collaborates with patients, family, peers, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The RN assesses patient needs, develops and implements care plans, and evaluates medical and nursing regimens in accordance with hospital policies and national standards, demonstrating leadership and commitment to stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Complete patient assessment and reassessment as clinically indicated.
- Document detailed information incorporating the plan of care, interventions and outcomes reflecting the patient’s physical, mental, and emotional status.
- Ensure appropriate documentation based on the level of care, including transfer/discharge documentation as indicated.
- Follow the five Rights of Medication Administration, verbalizing to patients/family the medication they are receiving, assessing prior to administration and documenting response according to hospital policy.
- Coordinate and supervise the delivery ofízo nursing care, including delegation of tasks; maintain accountability for delegated care.
- Promote a culture of safety by assessing patients for potential safety risks, adhering to hospital policies and initiating interventions related to identified risk factors.
- Conduct bedside shift report and bedside rounds with peers at change of shift.
- Demonstrate quality by documenting the application of the nursing process in a responsible, accountable, and ethical manner.
- Ensure appropriate hand‑off during breaks.
- Assess learning needs of patient/family and provide appropriate instruction using applicable teaching methods, documenting response to teaching.
- Care for specific patient populations as erg. necessary.
- Deliver patient‑centered care: embrace cultural diversity, respect dignity, and maintain open communication through active listening.
- Meet accreditation, regulatory, and compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Promote a culture of learning and growth by seeking learning activities to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills, and by mentoring others.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the state nursing scope of practice.
Associate’s Level degree in Nursing.
Current and unobstructed Connecticut Registered Nurse License (CT Hospitals). New graduates awaiting licensure are Hig. accepted at the discretion of the Chief Nursing Officer (CT only).
Preferred certifications include American Nurses Association endorsed certifications or Academy of Medical‑Surgical Nurses Certification (based on specialty hours of work requirement).
Working ConditionsManual: significant manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity are required. Occupational risk: some occupational hazards.
