American Excelsior Company is an industry-leading manufacturer and custom fabricator of a wide variety of flexible foam products used in a wide variety of markets. We are actively seeking a CAD Operator/Estimator
at our Norwalk plant. This individual will support our sales, customer service, and manufacturing departments to create custom designs for foam products for current and prospective customers. HOURS:
- Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
- OT hours as needed
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- Starting wage is dependent upon experience; $24-26 per hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create detailed drawings for new and existing products using AutoCAD
- Estimate production costs for products
- Lead the fabrication and inspection of prototypes and first articles to ensure they meet specifications before customer approval and production
- Collaborate with Purchasing to source new materials
- Design tooling and coordinate with vendors
- Determine raw materials and initial process routings for new products and enter data into the company’s MRP system
- Provide design interpretation and quality guidance to support manufacturing
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives including lean manufacturing, quality assurance, resource planning, and inventory control
- Assist Sales with design clarifications and customer quotes; contribute to product design modifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Solid Works; CNC programming experience preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems
- Strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on approach, and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and thrive in a small team and office environment
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Methodologies
