CompensationPay starts at $19 per hour plus shift differentials. Salary range: $17.00 - $28.50 per hour.
Shift DetailsFive 8‑hour shifts rotating between day and evening shifts and rotating every other weekend.
Union PositionThis is a union position.
Requirements- High School Diploma or GED (minimum).
- 0 to 6 months of hospital experience (preferred).
- Active CNA certification preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification within 90 days of start or upon completion of orientation.
- Provides physical care to assigned patients and performs technical skills such as point‑of‑care testing.
- Implements nursing orders promptly and adequately with an understanding of purpose.
- Follows policy and procedure for assigned patient care activities, including unit‑specific equipment.
- Provides patient comfort by positioning, extra bathing, straightening linens, and ensuring personal items are within reach with courtesy and responsiveness.
- Ensures patient safety through preventative measures (e.g., side rails, restraints, bed‑chair exit alarm, hourly rounding).
- Enters all data into the computer system as applicable.
- Communicates patient and visitor information and observations to the appropriate person.
- Provides care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development over the life span.
- Reports and records any changes observed in patient condition or behavior; reports all unusual conditions or reactions to the nurse in charge.
- Recognizes and responds to priorities in the patient care process, exercising good judgment in setting priorities for activities.
- Maintains effective working relationships with all health‑care team members, patients, and significant others.
- Maintains a safe and orderly work environment and a clean, well‑stocked work area; assists with maintaining unit equipment.
- Works as a Safety Attendant/Patient Sitter by providing a safe environment to specific patients. Follows WCHN standards of service excellence.
- Attends staff meetings and signs 100 % of meeting minutes.
- Maintains competency for Basic Life Support certification.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Working Conditions- Manual: significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity.
- Occupational risk present.
- Physical effort: very heavy effort; may exert up to 50 lbs.
- Physical environment: significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
