Required:
High School Diploma or GED AND Certified Nursing Assistant or an EMT licensed in the State of Connecticut.
Shifts:
Two 12‑hour shifts and two 8‑hour shifts weekly (7 a‑7 p, 9 a‑9 p, 11 a‑11 p) every other weekend.

SummaryTo provide nursing care to a patient or group of patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Responsibilities- Patient Care Criteria A:
Provides patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse. Prioritizes assignments in consultation with the RN. - Patient Care Criteria B:
Performs procedures as identified by the Skills Checklist (e.g., splinting, EKGs, wound care). Refers to and utilizes appropriate resources. Responds promptly to patient care needs. - Patient Care Criteria C:
Maintains a safe patient environment incorporating Norwalk Hospital Policies and Procedures. - Patient Care Criteria D:
Is self‑directed, offers assistance with unit needs, and covers other team members as needed. - Communication Criteria A:
Communicates with patients, visitors, and coworkers within the scope of responsibilities in a courteous manner. - Communication Criteria B:
Observes and reports to Registered Nurse all changes in patient condition, observations, or occurrences of an unusual nature in a clear and concise manner. - Communication Criteria C:
Documents patient data accurately on appropriate forms (e.g., ED Flow Sheet). - Communication Criteria D:
Obtains information necessary to carry out patient care assignments, such as report and/or active order profile sheets. - Occupational and Personal Responsibilities A:
Demonstrates compliance with identified policies and procedures (e.g., stocking, equipment maintenance). Follows mini protocols. Maintains computer skills (e.g., Epic and Cerner), enters orders/patient charges, and enters Emerge data. - Occupational and Personal Responsibilities B:
Demonstrates willingness to assist with and improve unit operations. - Occupational and Personal Responsibilities C:
Maintains neat and orderly appearance and environment. - Occupational and Personal Responsibilities D:
Completes all competencies and annual requirements as established by the ED Management team (e.g., EKGs, Point of Care Testing, restraints/Code Green, and awareness of Least Restrictive Measures). Maintains personal educational record. - Equipment and Supplies Criteria A:
Utilizes supplies and equipment cost‑efficiently and properly (e.g., stocking and maintenance of equipment). - Equipment and Supplies Criteria B:
Reports problems with supplies and equipment to appropriate personnel for corrective action. - Equipment and Supplies Criteria C:
Maintains supplies as per established par levels in the ED and Express Care. - Performs other duties as assigned.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Education:
High School Graduate or equivalent. - Minimum Experience:
zero to six months. - Required certifications:
Certified Nursing Assistant or an EMT licensed in the State of Connecticut. - Desired:
Knowledge of and experience with emergency department workflows.
Salary Range: $17.00 – $28.50 hourly.
